The government has imposed a limited lockdown across the country from next Monday (June 26) as coronavirus (Covid-19) infections have risen at an alarming rate. However, all types of financial institutions will remain open till Wednesday. A seven-day nationwide lockdown will begin on Thursday (July 1). The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by the home minister on Saturday (June 26) evening.
Chief Information Officer of the Information Department Surath Kumar Sarkar confirmed the information on Saturday night. "There will be a limited lockdown from Monday (June 26)," he said. Then inter-district transport will be closed. Financial institutions, including banks, will remain open for the June closing. There will be an all-out lockdown from Thursday (July 1). Then everything will be off. A notification in this regard will be issued on Sunday. There will be details. ' Earlier on Friday (June 25) night, an information statement signed by the Chief Information Officer said that a strict lockdown would be observed for the next seven days from Monday (June 26). All government and private offices will be closed except emergency services. All types of vehicles except emergency goods vehicles will be closed. Ambulances and medical vehicles will be able to move.
It added, ‘No one can get out of the house without an urgent reason. The media will be outside the scope of the lockdown. A detailed order in this regard will be issued by the Cabinet Division on Saturday (June 26).
However, today a new decision came instead of detailed order. Concerned parties say the lockdown will shut down everything except emergency services. These issues will be clarified tomorrow (Sunday).
