‘Jannati’ is the name of a stone specially placed on the wall of the Kaaba. The Arabic word ‘hajr’ means stone and the word ‘aswad’ means black. That is black stone. ‘Hajr-e-Aswad’ is a dignified stone of heaven. Hajj pilgrims go for Hajj and kiss it directly or through gestures.
For the first time in history, Saudi officials have taken a crystal clear picture of Hajr-e-Aswad (sacred black stone) at the Kaaba.
It took eight hours to take the 49,000-megapixel images, a Saudi information ministry adviser said in a statement on Monday (May 3rd).
He said that since the sacred black stone is the ‘stone of paradise’, for the first time, high-resolution images convey the message of how beautiful paradise will be.
Incidentally, Hajr-e-Aswad is a black ancient stone located one and a half meters (four feet) high from Mataf in the southeast corner of Kaaba Sharif. According to Islam, this stone has been on earth since the time of Adam and Eve.
After the reconstruction of the Holy Kaaba during the time of the last Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (peace be upon him), there was a conflict among the Quraish as to who would replace Hazrat Aswad. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) took off his shawl and left it in Aswad and asked all the tribal chiefs to hold the shawl and put an end to the conflict.
This sacred stone is 6 inches long and 6 inches wide. At present it is eight pieces. During the reign of Hazrat Abdullah bin Jobayer, a fire broke out in the Kaaba and Hajr-e-Aswad was torn to pieces. Abdullah bin Jobay then tied the broken pieces to a silver frame. At present eight pieces of Hajr-e-Aswad can be seen. The big piece is equal to the date palm.

‘হাজরে আসওয়াদ’ কাবাঘরের দেয়ালে বিশেষভাবে স্থাপনকৃত একটি পাথরের নাম। আরবি ‘হাজর’ শব্দের অর্থ পাথর আর ‘আসওয়াদ’ শব্দের অর্থ কালো। অর্থাৎ কালো পাথর। ‘হাজরে আসওয়াদ’ বেহেশতের মর্যাদাপূর্ণ একটি পাথর। হজযাত্রীরা হজ করতে গিয়ে এতে সরাসরি বা ইশারার মাধ্যমে চুম্বন দিয়ে থাকেন।
ইতিহাসে প্রথমবারের মতো কাবা শরিফে অবস্থিত হাজরে আসওয়াদের (পবিত্র কালো পাথর) এর স্ফটিক স্বচ্ছ ছবি তুলেছেন সৌদি আরবের কর্মকর্তারা।
স্থানীয় সময় সোমবার (৩ মে) সৌদি তথ্য মন্ত্রণালয়ের উপদেষ্টা এক বিবৃতিতে বলেন, ৪৯ হাজার মেগাপিক্সেলের এই ছবিগুলো তুলতে ৭ ঘণ্টা সময় লেগেছে।
তিনি বলেন, পবিত্র কালো পাথরটি যেহেতু ‘জান্নাতের পাথর’, প্রথমবারের মতো উচ্চ রেজ্যুলেশনের ছবিগুলো এই বার্তা দিচ্ছে যে জান্নাত কত সুন্দর হবে।
প্রসঙ্গত, হাজরে আসওয়াদ হলো একটি কালো রঙের প্রাচীন পাথর যা কাবা শরিফের দক্ষিণ-পূর্ব কোণে মাতাফ থেকে দেড় মিটার (চার ফুট) উঁচুতে অবস্থিত। ইসলাম ধর্মের বিশ্বাস অনুযায়ী এই পাথর আদম ও হাওয়ার সময় থেকে পৃথিবীতে রয়েছে।
ইসলাম ধর্মের শেষ নবী মুহাম্মদ (সা.) এর সময়ে পবিত্র কাবাঘর পুনর্নির্মাণের পর হাজরে আসওয়াদকে আগের জায়গায় কে বসাবেন— এ নিয়ে কুরাইশদের মধ্যে দ্বন্দ্ব বেঁধেছিল। মহানবী হজরত মুহাম্মদ (সা.) নিজের গায়ের চাদর খুলে তাতে হাজরে আসওয়াদ রেখে সব গোত্রপ্রধানকে চাদর ধরতে বলেন এবং দ্বন্দ্বের পরিসমাপ্তি ঘটান।
এই পবিত্র পাথরের দৈর্ঘ্য ৮ ইঞ্চি ও প্রস্থ ৭ ইঞ্চি। বর্তমানে এটি আট টুকরো। হজরত আবদুল্লাহ বিন জোবায়েরের শাসনামলে কাবা শরিফে আগুন লাগলে হাজরে আসওয়াদ কয়েক টুকরা হয়ে যায়। আবদুল্লাহ বিন জোবায়ের পরে ভাঙা টুকরাগুলো রুপার ফ্রেমে বাঁধিয়ে দেন। বর্তমানে হাজরে আসওয়াদের আটটি টুকরা দেখা যায়। বড় টুকরাটি খেজুরের সমান।
